The Mermaid is a 2016 Chinese-Hong Kong sci-fi dream lighthearted comedy film coordinated, co-composed, and co-created by Stephen Chow. 

The film stars Deng Chao as a playboy agent who begins to look all starry eyed at a mermaid (Lin Yun) why should sent kill him. 

It was discharged in China on February 8, 2016. Upon discharge, it broke various film industry records, for example, the greatest opening day and the greatest single day gross through its seventh day of discharge and having the greatest opening week ever in China. The Mermaid 2016

Playboy business head honcho Liu Xuan buys the Green Gulf, a natural life save, for an ocean recovery venture, and uses sonar innovation to dispose of the ocean life in the range. Obscure to him, the Green Gulf is the home of merpeople, and the sonar has created a number of them to bite the dust or become ill. The couple of survivors live in a deserted wreck in the bay, and need to kill Xuan for his deeds. The merfolk send Shan, a delightful mermaid who's prepared to stroll on her blades and stow away among people, in a "honeytrap" plot against Xuan. On the night of Xuan's gathering praising his prosperity, Shan, putting on a show to be an artist, gives her phone number to Xuan. 

Xuan, trusting that Shan is a whore, calls her number with a specific end goal to make his business accomplice desirous. Shan goes to Xuan and tries to murder him however her endeavors continue exploded backward. At last, Xuan chooses to send Shan back home, and along the way Shan takes him to a funfair that she works at. While there, Shan tries to demonstrate Xuan there are more critical things than cash, and Xuan is awed with Shan's basic, entertaining shenanigans. They spend the day together and create affections for each other. At the point when Xuan at long last takes Shan home, Shan rapidly sends Xuan away before her kin can slaughter him. The following day, Xuan takes Shan for another date and proposes, however Shan rejects him. 

That night, Xuan goes to Shan's home to converse with her, and finds reality that she and her family are merpeople. Against Shan's desires, the others catch Xuan and let him know how he's slaughtering them with his improvement venture. Xuan is going to be executed when Shan helps him escape. Xuan returns home and, after the stun has worn off, chooses to examine the impacts of his venture. He kills the sonar however erroneously tells his business accomplice that Shan is a mermaid and where the other merpeople live. The merpeople are assaulted, and large portions of them are murdered.
